Way back into Love

Not really a song, but a song....hmmmn criptic

Went to see Music and Lyrics last night with my sis. She's on mid term break and decided to call in. We left Tony minding the house (love that phrase) and he's also not feeling the may west so I think he was as well pleased and able to go to bed early. It's funny how men are a bit macho about going to bed.....

Anyway, it's a nice film - we both liked it, but I'm a real chick flick kinda girl. Don't mind what the critics think, I like a film where I come out happy, the guy gets the girl or whatever and I think I especially like films where there are clips at the end telling you how they all ended up...20 years on. I'm not one for surprises and don't like horror or even tense films....just dislike them. Prob my favourite are ones that are really 'smart'...not necessarily a mystery, but one's where it all comes together at the end and you go 'oh yeah...now I get it'. Hard to describe. Back to Music and Lyrics. Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore - both play their typical type of character - I don't have a problem with this, they make a good couple and I like both of them in most things they do. Hugh was an 80s popstar...so there's some very funny references back to those days and the cack hairstyles etc. Not side splittingly funny, and maybe not quite worth €9 in the cinema (not sure what it cost cos sis paid) but would definitely be a DVD to watch some rainy afternoon, espesh if you like music....well, not in a critical way - you'd probably cringe!

TG it's Friday. This week has flown. No joke, can't believe it. Haven't really felt like bloggging all week - didn't have anything much to say. Haven't posted pics of last weekend, but I'll get to it. Made pancakes on Tuesday and felt a bit crook all day Wednesday, but so did Tony so we weren't sure whether it was the pancakes or something else....and now he's feeling fluey so maybe it was a precursor to all that. Have given up drink and other bad things for Lent. Have a wedding on the 17th of March, bought the 'outfit' in the sales in Jan and have to fit into it. Not a major struggle - I didn't buy it too small, but want to look half decent all the same.

This weekend my dad's parents are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, so we are all calling over on Sunday for a little party. Will be good to meet up with all the relatives. Having mass in the house and then a little bit of food, cup of tea, etc. Hopefully T will be feeling ok by that stage....although dad still isn't right. Went to doc on Monday and had to take another week off work. Now on antibiotics, etc. Doc thought he might have had mild pneumonia (I warned him at the weekend tbh) but he should be feeling a bit better soon. Mam has soldiered on through all the others getting it so hopefully she won't get it now. Same for me. THere's awful sickness and bugs going around - worst ever I'd say.

That's all for now folks....off to do another day's work......

It's time to put on Make-up, it's time to....

light the light, it's time to meet the muppets on the muppet show tonight....boom boom boom...

Strange...anyway, this post is linked to our performances over the weekend. For the first time in 10 years Tony and I were on stage together.... we have a history....that's where it all started, but since then we have both acted in a number of bits and pieces, but never together....till saturday night. I have pics of our cast on my camera, but unfortunately forgot to bring it to work today...today I was a little busy this morning...more about that later....much later!

Back to the play. Friday evening we had a dress rehearsal which went ok...for the youth group at home. Good not to have too good of a dress rehearsal they say. Saturday then we made our way to Tuam where the competition was on. We were the third play of the night. Didn't really see the other two...we were too busy getting ourselves made up etc. Some of the gang were nervous..I wasn't too bad, cos I had no lines 'the utterly silent character' that's me. Our play went without a hitch...one little giggle from Mary and the music at the end was a bit too low, but otherwise got plenty of laughs and a good response from the audience. All in all we were all happy. The adjudicator gave his comments at the end, and it would seem we got the best feedback. He was very thorough in his comments (a bit long winded tbh) but went through all the pros and cons for everyone. He asked for a round of applause for me (hurrah, I was quite funny it seems....for one who doesn't talk) so I was happy enough. Tony got good comments too, as did most of our gang. He said Gary needed to speak up and Ann-marie needed to calm down...she overacted a bit. Funniest comment though was he said that the 'love' scene wasn't convincing enough because they didn't hug or embrace tightly....this refers to Tony and Caroline. T said she didn't respond to his hugging! Anyway, adjudicator said he realised that it was difficult to do 'love' scenes especially if your wife is in the audience or whatever!! If only he knew I was smack bang on the stage between the two of them!

Home to the pub for a glass of the black stuff and we were tucked up in bed by 2. Eilis had a sleepover with her cousins....had a ball, of course. Nice to have a lie-in...till 9. Had dinner with Tony's parents and went visiting...cousins with a belated birthday pressie and also back to Dave to give him plans of our house to cost for us. Back to my house to say hi to the other grandparents and then tony dropped the car off to the garage man for a service..... Eilis stayed with her cousins again last night and we headed back to tuam for the next two plays and the results.

Had seen the first play before. Acting was good, but they missed a couple of crucial bits I felt...Second play was dismal (in my honest opinion)...actors were ok, hadn't practiced enough and you could see 'through' the set changes cos they kept walking behind the set, and the play itself is pretty confusing...even at the best of times. I was uninterested. Adjudicator spoke about both...didn't slate the last one, but I suppose you can't be too hard on them. Anyway, we were quietly hoping that even if we didn't win, we'd get through in second place to the next round.... Unfortunately we didn't :( The first play from Sunday won awards all round and came first. Tony won most promising male actor (yay, something for our house at least), but nothing else for the group. The play that was on before us on Saturday came second. Everyone was quite shocked to be honest. Anyway, we'll live to fight another day...T says we're not giving up till we win it at least once.....we'll see!

Sorry for long post. This seems to always happen cos I haven't blogged over the weekend. Also, i know I need to get more pics into this....will work on that for sure. tomorrow you get the cast and crew....
